I
took the attached photo of my Naha Air Base roommate Gaylon Lackey in
August of 1957 when we spent the day at Yaetake aka: ‘Radar Hill’.
Lackey can be seen on the right near the guard at the gate.
Yaetake at that time was a member of the 624th AC&W, with call sign
‘Foolhardy’. They passed along their air traffic to we, the Air Defense
Control Center (ADCC) at Naha Air Base; our call sign having been
‘Slowpoke’.
