  1. First Thank You for Your service and God Bless! Secondly, the picture of teaching the Housemaids to play poker, the Girl in the middle with the orange sweater and white collared blouse looks like young pictures of my mother Keiko Miyawake who worked on Okino since she was 14 years old. If this picture is 1952 she would have been 14 that year. My Dad arrived at Okino in 1956 and they married in 1958. If anyone could verify, that would be so cool to know this was my Mom when she was 14. My Dad was Robert W. "Mac" McLaughlin. He was assigned to the Chow Hall. Thank You, Robert W. McLaughlin Jr.

  2. Hi Robert jr.
I remember your dad who made significant contributions to our Okino Website which has morphed into this one by
popular demand. I visited your dad at the VA in Durham during his recovery from heart surgery. Also gifted your dad with an embroidered Okino Erabu ballcap with his nickname "Mac the Cook". Interesting observation about the possibility of your mom in Ron's photo. Hopefully someone can from the day can verify. Best wishes to you and family. Regards, RodK

  4. I am so proud of my Uncle Ronnie and wished he was here to thank him for this service. I can remember he brought a kimona home and Grandma let me parade around in it. So special and now he is gone, I am sure to a better place. We all loved you and proud of your accomplishments, Your neice Marcia
